Last Thursday evening, I was the guest of a group of therapists who interviewed me about how I’ve built my businesses over the years - both my therapy offices and my coaching business. Their probing, and very pointed, questions dramatically helped me clarify exactly what strategies have worked for me and my clients over the years. I hope you enjoy it. It is as solid and tight a summary of what has worked for me over the years as anything I’ve ever written. I’m quite proud of it, at least as an accurate reflection of what has worked for me.
1. Clarify the vision. Many of us have a tendency to be lazy about defining exactly what we want and where we want to be in a few years. Set your course as clearly as you can! A vague desire to “Work less and make more money” may be a comfortable day-dream, but it is not a success strategy!
2. Turn the vision into a mission. Once you know where you want to go, you have to be clear, get passionate, get DETERMINED to arrive! Develop a series of vital reasons, personal motivators, personal drivers that pull you forward. Why are you doing what you do? If you only want to make money, get a job! (It’s easier!) What’s your driving purpose?
3. Get a mentor. Hire a coach or create a frequent, steady, EFFECTIVE working relationship with someone who has been where you want to go, or perhaps more importantly, has a proven ability to help others get there. (Great sports coaches don’t have to be great athletes! But they do have to know the game and be experts at helping their athletes win!)
4. Get a map and a compass! Develop a detailed, specific working plan. Work with your coach on this, and write it down! It doesn’t have to be long and detailed, but it does have to make sense, and it has to give you direction and purpose for getting from where you are, to where you want to be. It should be detailed enough to tell you precisely what to do first, each Monday morning.
5. Improve the plan whenever possible. There is a contradiction here. Use and trust your plan, and rely on it! At the same time, life will give you unexpected opportunities, sudden short-cuts, and amazing possibilities. Be ready at any moment to jump on a “real” opportunity, but be very cautious about running off on every whim or impulse. How do you know the difference? Check with your coach!
6. Hang-out with talented people. Pick up the phone and introduce yourself to people who have achieved want you want to achieve. Read about them, get on their mailing lists or take classes from them. If they don’t teach, develop a class and invite them to be your guest expert! But find people who are walking on the same, or a similar, path to your own, and follow in their footsteps, or walk beside them, or encourage them to catch up with you. Success loves company!
7. Work very hard. Again, there is a contradiction here. To achieve a high level of success takes an ability to play very hard, sometimes for a long time. If you’ve defined your vision accurately, the distinction between “work” and “play” will begin to blur, and you’ll find yourself willing (eager!) to work a lot. It takes sustained, efficient, focused effort to achieve great things. I know of no short-cut.
8. Keep good records! This means accurate accounting, a personal journal of what works and why, notes about your best customers and the coolest things your competitors are doing. Jot down ideas, keep track. Especially, monitor the money.
9. Work smarter everyday! I think the biggest single thing in my success is that my family has no history of being in business, and even making money is a bit “suspect”, but they LOVE learning! Early on, they taught me that everything I could ever need or want in life was in the local library. Learn from the competition. Learn how they did it 100 years ago! Read “Wired” and “Fast Company” to see how it might be done next year. Take the best, and leave the rest.
10. Always be planning your “next” million dollars. Whatever you’re doing today is already becoming obsolete. By the time you read the book or attend the seminar, someone has already found a “better, faster, cheaper” way to do it. Always be looking over the horizon, seeking the next opportunity and figuring out how to incorporate it into what you already have and love. Keep growing!

One of my favorite supplementation companies is Gaspari nutrition. You can attend just about any gym and you’ll watch individuals working out who are using Gaspari nutritional supplements. Rich Gaspari the founder of Gaspari nutrition possesses a dedication to making top-flight products at reasonable prices.
Contrary to some supplementation companies they do not make a infinite number of supplements. Sometimes manufacturers develop so many variants of bodybuilding supplements that it becomes difficult to know what to use and when to use it.
You will find Gaspari nutrition products to be of high quality and you will not be disappointed. Don’t listen to me. Travel to your exercise club and start asking about what supplements they are taking. I will bet a couple of them will say they are taking Gaspari nutrition products.
For example, Holodrol liquigels are first-rate. Gaspari IntraPro Whey Protein is also very good. Novedex XT Testosterone Booster is superb. In fact, this product might just be the best the industry has to offer. That is a bold statement, and different people will have different opinions. Different people will have different results. Nevertheless, Gaspari nutrition appears to have a well-deserved reputation for premium products.
If you are thinking about using a new brand and have not tried Gaspari nutrition, do yourself a favor and try this brand. If you have never utilized any supplements before and want to start with a quality brand, then Gaspari nutrition is a great company to start out with.
It isn’t simple to get a college scholarship these days. These scholarships are unlike the normal student loan because they are a grant for education, so it doesn’t need to be paid off. When looking for means of funding your degree, check out afew of of the unique choices, such as southpaw grants.
Left-Handed Scholarships: — It may seem crazy to provide a grant based on being left-handed, however it’s worth considering these facts: Benjamin Franklin was a lefthander, as is President Obama. Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Sting also Winston Churchill were left handed as well. Figures propose up to eleven percent of people are southpaws. Often considered more artistic and more intelligent, lefties have frequently suffered from discrimination in the past. Stigmatisation is now a thing of the past and left-handers are no longer thought to be odd, in fact they may even be associated with the many great people mentioned above.
If you’re a southpaw and exploring scholarships specifically for lefthanded students, many left handed scholarships exist which you may be able to receive. The Beckley Scholarship for a thousand dollars is currently available at Juniata College stuated in Huntington, PA. For students of Juniata College and launched in 1979, this grant has aided over forty scholars receive a university degree. When looking for scholarships, do be mindful that many of them may have requirements or restrictions. This can include grades and monetary needs, but not always. Go For for the maximum number of scholarships feasible to step-up the prospects of supporting your university education with a minimal level of debt. Societies, hobby related groups and even community organisations may offer scholarships. Lefthanded scholarships are just one case; funding is likewise available if you are a child of a veteran or are disabled, to provide some examples.
Most people need to invest a little effort looking for university bursaries, but the return may be huge. When used with student loans, they can reduce the inevitable debt which a college degree can generate. Ensure you explore every last scholarship. Do remember there are alternative options besides lefthanded scholarships - be imaginative! Go for every last program you might possibly qualify for, you may keep your student debt to a an absolute minimum, additionally you will very likely look forward to improved prospects after graduation.
Tony was a professinoal salt-water fisherman. He explained how he cruised out to sea each morning, coming back each evening with his catch.
“Is there a part of the year you can ‘t go out?” I asked. “The winter–too risky. Below freezing, the spray starts forming ice on the bow. The added weight makes the bow of the boat lie lower in the water. Inexperienced guys fishing in winter
have allowed so much ice to build up on the bow that in heavy seas the bow starts to dip beneath the waves. One dip too deep, and she goes down. Only thing to do for it is to grab and ax and knock the ice off once in a while. If you forget and let it build up, you’re dead.”
Think of that bow-ice as representing sinful pride. Little by little it builds up until you can’t stay spiritually afloat a moment longer.
Look at the Pharisees. They didn’t intend to be so arrogant. Jesus called them blind because they were unaware they had this problem. But little by little their self-congratulatory attitude expanded their egos until their spirituality was shipwrecked.
We modern believers face a similar challenge. What can we do to knock off the pride weighting us down? Here are a few principles from Scripture.
Little by little, day by day, let’s keep the “ice” off our bows. Disaster awaits anyone who ignores this warning.

Malignant mesothelioma is a scarce cancer of the tissues that line the person’s internal organs. Nearly two thousand new cases are recognized each year in the whole US. Of this group, almostthree out of four of instances concern the sac around the lungs, named the pleura. This type of cancer is called pleural mesothelioma. In nearly ten to 20 percent of instances, malignant mesothelioma could concern the tissue that surrounds visceral organs, named the peritoneal membrane, causing what is then known as peritoneal mesothelioma.
Being introduced to asbestos is positively the overwhelming risk factor for this uncommon disease. Following exposure to asbestos, the delay to development of the mesothelioma disease may be two to four decades. Because of job related exposure, cancer of the mesothelium is almost three times more routine in men, than in women. Because the amount of cases rises with your age, there are nearly 10 times more instances in the men more than age 64 than in the men in their 30s.
Developing Cancer of the mesothelium is a serious cancer, that, at the moment, has a very bad rate of continuing endurance. On the other hand, if it is spotted quickly, regimens are then obtainable that can seriously lengthen the patient’s life. Cutting edge approaches continue to be and are being developed through clinical trials.
Friendly competition
Get together with a group of like-minded friends who are committed to reaching the same, or similar, goals. Brainstorm ways to “compete” in reaching those goals, decide on the timing and logistics of regular “check-in” meetings and perhaps set up a system of rewards.
Example: A group of friends all wish to lose weight. They decide to buy inexpensive pedometers to track their daily walking distance. Weekly meetings enable them to compare numbers and the winner each week is rewarded with a movie coupon paid for by weekly “dues” of a dollar or two per person.
Another scenario might be a group of co-workers who want to raise money for a charity. In their meetings, everyone is awarded “points” based on the money they raised that week, to be “spent” on favors from the others in the group (such as running off copies, fetching coffee, covering for them in meetings, etc). The selection and “price” of these awards should be determined in the initial meeting.

The healthcare industry term an enlarged prostate benign prostate hyperplasia, or BPH. In simple terms this actually means that the prostate, a gland which wraps around the urethra and lies just below the bladder, swells and this may impair or even stop urination. Self Improvement has become mainstream. In the last few years, since I have been writing articles and submitting them to article sites, I’ve noticed that the category of “Self Improvement” has been showing up lately when it was never there before. To me, this is very good news.
But what does it really mean to “Self Improve?” What are we really improving when we self improve? And what “self” are we improving?
We each have two “selves” - our wounded self and our core Self. Our core Self is our true self, our natural soul self - our essence. Our core Self is our passion, our joy, our gifts and talents, our ability to love, our creativity. We come into this life as our core Self, and when this Self is loved and valued by our parents, we continue to naturally grow our God-given gifts and talents and manifest the fullness of our beings. This Self wants to improve by learning the skills necessary to fully express itself.
But when this Self is not seen and valued in the way we needed, we create an alternative self, a self we hope will have control over getting the love we need and avoiding the pain we can’t handle - a self to help us feel safe. This is our false self, our wounded self, our ego self. This self is filled with the false beliefs that we absorbed as we were growing up - beliefs that end up limiting our true, core Self. This self does not needs improving - it needs healing.
The term “self improvement” can sometimes be a bit misleading, because we do not want to improve our wounded self. We do not want to improve on the ways we lie, manipulate, and avoid in our attempts to have control over getting love and avoiding pain. We don’t want to improve on our many addictions to substance and processes. We don’t want to improve on our anger, our compliance, our withdrawal and our resistance.
We want to heal it.
Healing and improving are not the same thing.
We can certainly self-improve when it comes to skills. We can improve in sports, in art, music, writing, cooking. We can improve our health and wellbeing by improving our diet and exercise program. We can improve in the knowledge we need to be more successful regarding work and money. We might be able to improve our relationships by learning new communication skills. But what if acquiring new knowledge and skills does not improve our health, or our ability to earn money, or our relationships? And what if learning new skills does not bring us more joy and inner peace? It may mean that we need to heal the underlying fears and false beliefs that cause us to be anxious, depressed, stressed, guilt-ridden, shamed, withdrawn, angry, blaming, or sad.
Sometimes Self Improvement just means practicing a skill, and others times it means that we need to participate in a deep healing process. For example, many people try to improve their health by losing weight and exercising. But if their food addictions are covering over unhealed pain, they might not be able to just change their diet. They might need to open to a healing process in order to eventually improve.
If you are really trying to self improve but find yourself stuck and unable to progress, or find that you have no joy or inner peace, you might want to open to the possibility that unhealed pain and beliefs are blocking your progress and causing your pain. It is easy to improve yourself when there is nothing blocking the way. But if you have old false beliefs about your adequacy and worth, these beliefs may be blocking your ability to take loving action in your own behalf. All your efforts to self improve will not bring you the satisfaction you are seeking if you have beliefs that are keeping you limited in fully expressing your true, core Self. If you are stuck, then you need to seek out a healing process, such as the Inner Bonding process we teach, that will move you out of the fears and beliefs that limit you. Healing these fears and limiting beliefs will open the door to improving your life in all ways!

(*) Proper bodybuilding exercises technique.
First steps in muscle building training are easy. Spend the first few weeks in gym knowing the exercises. During the first few weeks of muscle building training, the muscles react to the stress put on them, even with relatively light weights, with important increase in strength and muscle tension.
(*) Train whole body on one workout.
Every major muscle group should be trained and developed to prevent muscle imbalance on muscle building training. The major muscle groups include legs, calves, chest, shoulders, back, arms and abdominals.
(*) Muscle building exercises.
Chose compound movements for each body-part (multi-joint movement like bench press, squat, dead lift etc).
(*) Weights.
During the first couple of muscle building training sessions, you will want to go pretty light just to get a feel for how to do the movement correctly. After you feel comfortable with the form, begin adding weight. Train in the range at 10-12reps.
(*) Sets.
A set is combination of any number of reps of a single exercise. You should have somewhere between 2-4 sets for each exercise of the muscle.
(*) Breathing.
Start each set with a deep inhalation and exhale as you push through the most difficult part of the lift. Inhale at the top (or the easiest portion of the lift) and exhale as you push.
(*) Rest between sets.
Rest as long as it takes for you to feel recovered from your previous set. That normally ranges from 60 to 90 seconds. Larger muscle group stake a bit longer to recover smaller muscle groups clear low pH levels and are ready to go more quickly.
(*) Training frequency.
Your body requires a minimum of 48 hours to fully recover after muscle building training sessions. Physiological processes at the cellular level require rest and nutrients before you can train that same muscle group again. For beginner train three times a week. An ideal schedule could be: Monday/Wednesday/Friday.
Enjoy your training and obtain good results.

In the 80’s I was a short, skinny eight-year old. You know the type. Always picked on but never picked for the team. When I started high school, things didn’t get much better. We had just moved to central New Jersey and I was the new kid on the block with no friends. My grades dipped. My guidance counselor thought I was so weird that he measured my head. In those days, they had never heard of Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD.
Because of my disability I attended classes with no more than six students. These “special classes” helped me get through high school but I still had trouble focusing. I didn’t make the baseball team because of this. I felt I lacked something internally, even though I managed to get my driver’s license which increased my social opportunities.
Whey my family moved to South Florida in 1992, I was ready for a new life. I was able to get into a college, but was still having trouble focusing and studying. I considered a career in Occupational TherapyFinally, one day at a party, I asked someone who I knew had studied the martial arts, whether they could recommend a good school. That person recommended “Stephen’s Karate and Fitness Center” in Boca Raton.
I tried a few classes and loved it. It was a workout I had never experienced. In my teens years, I had lifted weights but found that boring. At Stephen’s Karate, I learned a unique style of mixed martial arts that combines traditional Tae Kwon Do with boxing.
There was also the exposure to the group dynamic that I enjoyed. As I slowly but surely moved up through the ranks, my instructor Barry Stephen asked me if I wanted to become an assistant instructor. I said yes without hesitation. At the time I was a red belt, which in our school, is half-way to black belt.
